Was relaxing on the front porch after an afternoon of weeding the iris beds, stroking Reece, my orange cat (found as a six-week old kitten at the Washington County Recyling Center and recyled him to my home, ergo Reece) behind the ears, when a Great Blue Heron landed on the roof of my car, not far from the fish pond, where my 8 goldfish have nicely survived the winter, so far. Reece took off like an orange streak, regardless of the disparity is sizes, and set the would-be goldfish raider down to the road, and then on down the road to gig frogs, hopefully, in Boone's Creek. A nice yard bird, to be sure, but thanks to a neutered cat who still has too much testosterone for his own good, one which did not linger for long.
