I stopped on Blevins Rd, along the river in Elizabethton, on the way back to Johnson City after the thunderstorm to look for the Yellow-crowned Night-Heron reported by Rick Knight earlier in the week. Although I did not find that heron, I did find a small nesting group of Great Blue Herons. There were four birds, two nests, and one nest being actively used. One heron flew back with a stick in its mouth and dropped it in the nest that the other one was currently sitting on. The other two were sitting in the trees around the nest but were not actively participating in nesting. That's not to say that they won't or haven't already. There was also one Osprey present.
