If you weren't there, we missed you and you missed a beautiful morning of birding. We did not have a big turnout of birders this morning, but the bird were there for sure. Enjoying cool temperatures and a beautiful blue sky on the walk this morning were Mitch Moore, John Hay, and Bill Grigsby with NTSP staff member, Bill Cawood. I don't have the complete list, but we saw more that 35 species within an hour near the trailhead. These included migrant warblers, vereos, and flycatchers. The birds were feasting on caterpillars and fruits on Virginia Creeper and the largest wild grape clusters that I have ever seen. I will post a complete list after tomorrow's evening walk.
The walks are scheduled for 6 PM tonight (Saturday) and 9:30 AM and 6:00 PM on Sunday. The walks will start from the Cove Ridge Center. There will be an owl prowl this evening at 9:00 PM starting from the campground. We have a beautiful weekend. If you can come enjoy it and some good birds.
