Minutes of the Bristol Bird Club
        March 17, 2015

Lois called meeting to order.

Bill Grigsby introduced the speakers Brookie and Jean Potter who presented an
interesting program on their trip to Sapsucker Woods and the Cornell Lab of
Ornithology and other areas nearby.

Faye Wagers read the minutes of the January meeting.

Lois read the treasurer’s report which Judy Roach had prepared and sent. She
has sent $200 for one mile of Operation Migration (Whooping Crane project).
$177 was collected in January for that and, as was approved at the January
meeting, the remainder was taken from the club treasury. There is a current
balance of $3496.55. The balance in the Lee Herndon fund is $783, leaving
$2713.55 cash available for the club.

Michele Sparks brought the club owned books that she had. These will be given
to Judy Roach. Wallace was reminded that he is to give the treasurer a report
on the inventory of club owned books in his posession as requested by the audit
committee in their report at the November meeting.

John Moyle reported on the BBC field trip to Warriors Path State Park and
Patrick Henry Lake on March 14, 2015. They saw several 18 species in spite of
a rainy morning. John announced future field trips for April and May. On April
11 there will be a bird walk at Steele Creek Park in Bristol, TN. On April
18, the group will go to Rogersville to the home of Susan Hubley on John Sevier
Lake. May field trips include May 2 to Wing Deer Park, May 16 to Seven Island
State Birding Park, and May 30 to Breaks Interstate Park on the border of
Kentucky and Virginia. More information will be posted before each of these
opportunities.

Lois appointed the nomination committee of Kevin Blaylock, chair, Neal Henson
and Judy Roach. The committee was approved by vote of the club members
present. The committee will present a slate of officers at the April meeting
and the election will take place at the May meeting.

Lois gave information concerning the TOS 100th Anniversary celebration to be
held April 30 - May 3, at Montgomery Bell State Park. She had copies of
registration information for anyone who wanted it.

There was a discussion as to whether the club would have a display at that
meeting. We also were asked to consider helping sponsor one of the evening
receptions since the park does not allow us to bring in our own food or
beverages for events there. The Knoxville chapter has agreed to sponsor one
and it has been suggested by TOS president that we contribute to help them.
Wallace made a motion to have a display but not to decide at this time to help
financially. After some discussion which was inconclusive, Wallace withdrew
his motion. Lois asked if there was a motion to contribute any amount of money
and for lack of a motion to that effect the discussion ended.

Bill Grigsby announced that a group is working to create a new chapter of TOS
in Kingsport. They expect to receive their charter at the TOS meeting in
April.
