Minutes of Bristol Bird Club
April 21, 2015
Lois opened meeting.
Bill Grisby to gave a program on making your yard a better place for wildlife.
He presented slides of his backyard and some captured online. He gave
information about an interactive website from Cornell University to help make a
plan for your yard.
Minutes were read and approved from the March meeting. There was no
treasurer's report. The treasurer will give a report at the May meeting.
Lois gave a brief report on field trip on Saturday, April 18, along the
Greenbelt in Kingsport and to Mike and Susan Hubley's home on John Sevier
Lake. Those who attended agreed that it was a very good day of birding. The
Hubley's served a delicious lunch with great Southern hospitality.
Kevin Blaylock gave the report from the nomination committee. Nominees for
2015-16 officers are: Tresurer - Barney.Brehl; Secretary - Faye Wagers; 1st
Vice-President - Kevin Blaylock; 2nd Vice-President - Wallace Coffey; and
President - Janice Martin. Nominations may be made from the floor at the May
meeting if the nominee has agreed to have their name put in nomination.
Election will be held at the May meeting and the new officers will take office
at the annual picnic in June.
Bill Grigsby announced that Susan Hubley will be the speaker at the May meeting.
Our Picnic will be June 27 at Steele Creek Part at the Civitan Shelter. After
some discussion it was decided that we will check about the club providing
barbecue rather than hamburgers. The officers will check on the cost of doing
so.
We have nineteen of the books THE BIRDS OF NORTHEAST TENNESSEE with bad
binding. Kevin Blaylock made a motion and John Hay seconded to sell them at
half price. After Wallace suggested giving them to Steele Creek Park to use as
they want, Kevin withdrew his motion and Wallace made his suggestion into a
motion with a second from John Hay. The motion was passed. Lois will deliver
those books to the park.
