Yesterday, on Sept. 30, I enjoyed a small spike in the number of migrants at home on Simerly Creek Road in Hampton. I had my first fall Rose-breasted Grosbeaks (2) as well as still plentiful Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. Warblers included Tennessee, American Redstart, Cape May, Chestnut-sided and Northern Waterthrush. I heard a chipping Hooded Warbler but could not tempt him into view. It was a decent way to close out September. Bryan Stevens, Hampton, Carter Co., TN
