Hi All, Yesterday a few migrants continued to pass through our yard here on Compton Mt. A Blue-headed Vireo stopped by to bathe in the yard stream, as did a Ruby-crowned Kinglet and a couple of Palm Warblers. A small flock of Chipping Sparrows were still feeding here, and a Swamp Sparrow was feeding on the tops of goldenrod plants. A late Indigo Bunting bathed in the stream. It missed the late date for that species by one day. A single Blue Jay stopped by to feed on sunflower seeds. Seven Purple Finches (14 today) and a couple of Pine Siskins fed with the goldfinches on the black oil sunflower seeds. A flock of about 10 Yellow-rumps continue to inhabit the yard and the stream. A couple of Towhees, five White-throated Sparrows, three Song Sparrows and a lone Junco fed under the feeders. All of them scattered when an immature Cooper's Hawk made a fly-by of the feeders. (Today a small Sharp-shinned came in to check things out.) A few photos can be found at http://www.pbase.com/mayhorn/birds_10_27_07 Roger Mayhorn Compton Mt Buchanan County
