Watauga Lake - Watauga Dam Overlook
Having been stuck at work all day (watching the Red-necked Grebe reports get
posted), I was ready to escape this afternoon. Earlier in the day, Brookie and
Jean Potter had already located a number of Red-necked Grebes on Watauga Lake
(from the Watauga Dam Overlook).....so this was my quickest drive to catch some
of the grebe action! Brookie and Jean had also observed an Eared Grebe in the
mix.
Cathy Myers and I arrived at the Watauga Dam Overlook at about 5:15pm. The lake
was quite smooth and we could immediately see birds scattered about
everywhere....including nearly 1,000 gulls!
