Lyle James Roach, 90, father of Bristol Bird Club member Judy Roach of =
Kingsport, TN, passed away Thursday evening (April 7, 2005) at Wilcox =
Hall in Kingsport after a period of declining health. He was surrounded =
by his loving family.

The family will receive friends Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, =
Kingsport, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Mr. Roach was born in Paducah, Ky., to the late James O. and Mae Roach.

Lyle was raised in the Methodist church and continued his membership =
throughout his life, serving in various lay positions on administrative =
boards, as usher, and often by helping with plumbing and heating repairs =
at the church and parsonages. When Lyle moved to Kingsport in 1991, he =
transferred his membership from Reidland United Methodist Church =
(Paducah, Ky.) to the Colonial Heights United Methodist Church where he =
was active in the Upper Room Sunday School Class and the Upper Crust =
senior adults group. He especially enjoyed their trips to explore =
Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

Lyle was a hard working husband and father, providing a Christian home =
for his wife and children. He enjoyed fishing and taking Sunday =
afternoon drives with his family to explore new places. In his =
retirement years, he enjoyed camping and made many good friends at =
various campgrounds in the Western Kentucky area.

Lyle was Scout Master of Troop 16 at St. Mark's Methodist Church in =
Paducah, Ky. He was a member of Local Union 184, Plumbers and =
Steamfitters, Paducah, Ky., for over 60 years and was honored in July, =
2004 as being one of the oldest members of the Local. He also belonged =
to the Paducah Masonic Lodge and Reidland Lions Club in Paducah, Ky.

Lyle's career included work on the Kentucky Dam in the early 1940's, =
nine years in Oak Ridge, Tenn., during and after World War II, and many =
construction and startup jobs in the Western Kentucky area.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Lyda Heflin and =
sisters, Marva Fletcher and Treva Pellum; and brother, Carleton Roach.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Eddie Whitehurst Roach; =
daughter, Judith K. Roach; son, Charles Lynn Roach; daughter-in-law, =
Sandy Parker Roach; four grandchildren, James Lynn Roach, Charles Keith =
Roach and wife, Deanna, Stephen Andrew Roach and wife, Suzanne, and =
Kerri Roach Brotherson and husband, Jim, all of Paducah, Ky.; six =
great-grandchildren; a special niece, Lynda Cochrum; several nephews; =
and his beloved cat companion, Grady.

Mr. Roach will be buried at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah, Ky. =
Details for services and burial are incomplete and will be announced =
locally by Roth Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jim Roach, Keith Roach, Andy Roach, Zachary Roach, =
Colton Roach, Jim Brotherson, and Josh Powell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Don Heflin, James Fletcher, and Gary =
Roach.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to caregivers Pat =
Sutherland, Marti Parks, Phyllis Landwerth, Melissa Robinson, and Nan =
Light for their tireless dedication to Lyle.

Memorial contributions can be made to Meals on Wheels of Colonial =
Heights, P.O. Box 5752, Kingsport, Tenn. 37663, the building fund at =
Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, 631 Lebanon Rd., Kingsport, =
Tenn. 37663 or the parsonage or paraments fund of Reidland United =
Methodist Church, 5515 Reidland Rd., Paducah, Ky. 42003.

Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, and Roth Funeral Home, Paducah, =
Ky., are serving the family.
