Bristol Birders: Jeff Wilson, the Ol' Coot from Memphis, countinued his search for annual list birds today, climbing into the mountains of Northeast Tennessee. He reported, at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time, that he had not found additional annual list birds today but was having a nice run on warblers. Much of today was spent at Roan Mountain in Carter County and by evening his search party was at Buffalo Mountain near Johnson City. It is has been overcast all day. Last evening he absolutely dazzled the 50 birders who attended the Bristol Bird Club banquet with wonderful bird photography, humor and useful tips and information about many special species seen in his birding. When he was introduced to the birders, they were told that during the past 15 years (which includes 1,560 weekend days) that the Ol' Coot has only missed birding 13 days (12 at the time of his mother's death). He frequently travels about 300 miles birding each weekend and sometimes up to 700 miles in a weekend as he travels to hot birding spots in West Tennessee.
