[Bristol-Birds] Herndon TOS Arizona field trip delights BBC March meeting

Bristol Bird Club members enjoyed a fascinating program
which traced the adventures and birding, in Southeastern
Arizona last May, by fourteen members of the Lee & Lois
Herndon Chapter of TOS at Elizabethton.
Kim Stroud and Joe McGuiness presented the program to
a large crowd of BBC members and guests during the March
meeting held at the Bristol Public Library. It was not only
an interesting show of beautiful western species but
a delightful accounting of many special situations and
places visited. It was nice to see many of our fellow
birders in a variety of places enjoying their birding trip.
Those attending the Herndon TOS trip to Arizona included:
John Hay, Dianne Draper, Paul Bayes, Emily Bayes, Jack
Litz, Katie Litz, Jim Anderson, Darla Anderson, Jeremiah
Sandburg, Janet Anderson, Dennis Anderson, Kim Stroud,
Joe McGuiness and Mary Anna Wheat.
Tom Hunter and Dave Worley reported that the winter
activities of the BBC's Clinch Mountain Golden Eagle Group
are winding down after the team captured some 3,000 photos
of an estimated 16 to 17 Golden Eagles during the past 90
days.
Don Leech presented the nominating committee's slate of
BBC officers for 20011-12 which included:
President - Wallace Coffey
1st VP - John Moyle
2nd VP - John Hay
Secretary - Diana Worley
Treasurer - Janice Martin
Asst. Treasurer - Wilma Boy
Election of officers will be held at the club's April meeting.
Dave Worley, who is stepping down from a record six terms
as President, agree to continue as chairman in leading the
club for the May 2012 joint Virginia Society of Ornithology and
Tennessee Ornithological Society meeting which will be held
at Johnson City.
Lola and Steve McClellan told members about their first-year
effort to erect a screech-owl nesting box at their home and the
sudden success they have with a new, resident, Eastern
Screech-Owl.
