The Herndon Bird Club has the following events coming up during the rest of April and early May: FIELD TRIP Saturday, April 21 to Winged-deer Park and Austin Springs. Meet at the parking lot at the beginning of the disk golf course in Winged-deer Park at 7:30 a.m. The road to this lot is off Carroll Creek Road opposite the Kinch boat launch parking lot. We will bird Winged-deer Park, then proceed to Austin Springs. Target birds include warblers and other spring migrants at Winged-deer Park and waterfowl, waders, shorebirds, new arrivals and migrants at Austin Springs. Bring waterproof footgear for birding at Austin Springs--the grass there is likely to be wet and somewhat long in some places. Those interested will eat at an area restaurant following the birding at Austin Springs. SPRING BIRD COUNT Saturday, April 28. This annual count covers the five county area of Washington, Sullivan, Johnson, Unicoi and Carter counties. Group leaders and areas will follow in a second announcement shortly. If you are interested in participating and do not yet have a group, please let me know. REGULAR MAY MEETING Tuesday, May 1 Meet at 7:00 p.m. at the Science Building (first floor, first room on the right) at Milligan College in Elizabethton. Agenda items include election of officers for next year, information about up-coming rallies and meetings, planning of the Summer Carter County bird count, and the COMPILATION of the results of the Spring count. Prior to the meeting, some members will meet at Bellacino's Italian Restaurant on South Roan St. (Food City Parking Lot) in Johnson City around 5:30 p.m. to eat and socialize before the meeting.
