tables at Sycamore Shoals Historic Site in Elizabethton at 2 p.m.
Nightjar Surveys:
Monday, June 13 Fish Springs--Meet at Primo's Restaurant in
Elizabethton at 7:30 p.m. to eat or be there by 8:30 p.m. to just
participate in the survey Leaders: Joe McGuiness and Kim Stroud
Friday, June 17 Two surveys: Cherokee and Milligan--meet at the
Smokehouse BBQ in Elizabethton (on Hwy 357 just west of Elizabethton) at
7:30 pm to eat or be there by 8:30 pm to just participate in a survey

Each survey will consist of 10 stops, one mile apart, where the
participants count Whip-poor-will and Chuck-will's-widow calls heard for
a six-minute period at each stop. The route is already defined and the
same route is used each year. Because of the number of stops and time
and distance involved, the survey will take at least an hour and a half,
so realistically, if you participate, you won't get back until midnight.
Annual Club Picnic: Saturday, July 9, at the Meredith Pavilion at
Winged Deer Park in Johnson City. The Meredith Pavilion is off Carroll
Creek Rd. by the Kinch Boat Landing. We have use of the pavilion from 4
to 9 pm, and plan to eat at about 6 p.m. The meal is pot luck--bring a
meat dish, vegetable dish, salad or desert. The club will provide plates
and dishes, utensils and napkins and drinks (water, sweet and unsweet
tea, diet soda, and regular coffee). We will have glasses, but to cut
down on plastic and styrofoam trash, bring your own glass or cup for
drinks if possible.
THERE WILL NOT BE A REGULAR CLUB MEETING IN JULY BECAUSE OF THE PICNIC.
