The Herndon Bird Club will have its regular monthly Club meeting for September on Tuesday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Science Building at Milligan College in Elizabethton. Come up the entry road into the College, turn right just past the Gregory Center (on the right) into the parking lot. The Science Building is straight ahead as you come into the parking lot. The meeting will be in a room on the right just as you enter the Science Building. The program presentation will be given by club members Darla and Jim Anderson on their birding travels--"Birding from Maine to Sitka" Agenda items will include consideration of field trips to Rankin Bottoms for Shorebirds and to Carver's Gap for fall migrants, especially warblers. The annual 5-county fall bird count will be planned--the date is Saturday, September 28. Club-led birding trips at the Fall Roan Mounain Naturalist Rally will be discussed. These birding trips are at 7:00 a.m. and at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 7 and at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, September 8. Additional plans for the Club Field Trip to North Carolina October 11-14 (Friday evening to Monday) will be discussed. Prior to the meeting Tuesday, some members will meet at Bellacino's Italian Restaurant on South Roan St. (Food City Parking Lot) in Johnson City around 5:30 p.m. to eat and socialize before the meeting.
