The Herndon Bird Club regular monthly meeting will be Tuesday, October
6, at 7 p.m. in the Science Building at Milligan College. To get there,
come up the entry road into the College, turn right just past the
Gregory Center (on the right) into the parking lot. The Science
Building is straight ahead as you come into the parking lot. The
meeting will be in a room on the right just as you enter the Science
Building.
Agenda items include a report on the Fall 5-county bird count held Sept.
26 and discussion of field trips for October.
The presentation will be a Power-Point show entitled "Birding and
Nature-Watching Through all Four Seasons" given by club member and
Vice-president Bryan Stevens.
Prior to the meeting, interested attendees will meet for dinner and
socializing at 5:30 p.m. at the Smokehouse BBQ on Hwy 359 Milligan Hwy.
Going from Johnson City or from Elizabethton on U. S. Hwy 321, turn off
(north) on Hwy 359, go left under Hwy 321 and follow Hwy 359--the
Smokehouse BBQ will be on your right almost immediately.
ALL ARE INVITED to the MEETING AND TO the Smokehouse BBQ for dinner
beforehand.
Club Field Trips in October:
Each Saturday, there will be a two hour birdwalk starting at the
Sycamore Shoals Historic Site parking lot. Leader will be Bryan Stevens.
Each birdwalk begins at 8:00 a.m. The Saturday dates are Oct. 3, Oct.
10, Oct. 17, Oct. 24, and Oct. 31.
The club will have a four-day field trip on Friday-Monday, Oct. 9-12, to
the Charleston area in South Carolina. Planning for this trip has been
pretty well completed--contact Joe McGuiness (423-743-0065) or Kim
