FRI 27 AUG 2004 Toby Rd., western Greene Co., TN D. Holt Around 6:30 pm Fri. I found numbers of swallows along Toby Rd. in western Greene Co., in the flat bottomland along Lick Creek, in the vicinity of Scoot Mill Rd. Species I could make out were Bank, Barn, Tree and Northern Rough-winged Swallows. I didn't count, but estimate the total flock in the hundreds. I saw three Bank Swallows well enough to feel sure of, but suspect many others were present. Also present were Bobolinks. I observed a few perched in tall grass at the top of an adjacent hill, then a flock of nineteen rose up, swirled around the area, then dove and disappeared into the tall grass and weeds near the creek. Shortly afterwards the swallows were no longer in view either, around 7:15 pm.
