In addition to the usual yard birds (Grey Catbird, Northern Cardinal, Carolina Chickadee, White-breasted Nuthatch, Mourning Doves, American Goldfinch, and Red-bellied Woodpecker), I saw a Downy Woodpecker for the first time in a while. Then I noticed a warbler in the trees in the back. There were American Redstarts (imm. and adult), Black-throated Green Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler, and perhaps a Tennessee Warbler. There may have been others, but it was difficult due to the light rain. The appeared to be feeding on insects and getting out of the rain in the pear, oak, and chestnut trees. There is a long hedge of beech trees that they may have been using for cover from the rain. Previously, I had only seen Yellow-rumped Warblers in the yard so it was a really, REALLY, good day.
