Aviatlas Sightings Record March 6, 2009 Rural Retreat Lake US · Virginia Lon. -81.294279, Lat. 36.865751, Alt. 2,513 ft Member: Allen Boynton Hotspot: Rural Retreat Lake Notes: The lake was mostly frozen during February, but is now thawed. Several species of waterfowl are becoming more frequent including wood duck, lesser scaup, and American coot. The past week has seen many American robins and red-winged blackbirds feeding in nearby fields. A few rusty blackbirds can be found in the marsh.
