Area Birders: I commented in the post yestereday about hawk migration that the forwarded message regarded lookouts along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Western North Carolina. That was wrong. I am sorry for the bad information. Actually, only the site on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Mahogany Rock (south of Sparta in Alleghany Co.,) is in Western North Carolina. Snickers Gap is in Loudon Co., Va east of Winchester and Caesars Head is in western South Carolina. I jump too quick on my comments and I am sorry. I noticed my errors when I looked back at the results of the hawk counts at Mahogany Rock to compare that to the past couple of days at Mendota in Washington Co., VA. Ron Carrico, Rob Biller and I hawk watched with Glenn Eller and friends at Mahoganny Rock a few years ago and is a beautiful location where birders sit out right on the parkway. And Rick Phillips use to count hawks at Caesars Head and post to our former hawk migration net. Sorry about that.... Let's go birding.....
