Greetings from Huffman Hill in Russell County, VA.
We have 5+ inches of snow and a lot of activity at our feeders. So far today I
have seen:
House Sparrow, Purple Finch (8), White-throated Sparrow, Carolina Chickadee,
Tufted Titmouse, White-breasted Nuthatch, Carolina Wren, Dark-eyed Junco, Song
Sparrow, Mourning Dove, Blue Jay, Pine Siskin (1), Northern Cardinal,, Downy
Woodpecker, American Crow,  House Finch, Goldfinch, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker,
Red-bellied Woodpecker, Eastern Towhee (16), Common Grackle(8). That is 21
species. The most unusual are the Grackles and the number of Towhees. We have
very few Grackles in this area during the winter months and I have never had
more than 6 Towhees at the same time.
