Yesterday, April 23rd, Dave Taylor and I birded several areas east of Bristol. In addition to usual sightings: Middlebrook Lake - Great Blue Heron-5 (one on lake, 4 flying north in a group), Wood Duck, Blue-winged Teal, Spotted Sandpiper-8 (on the dam, 2 showing spots), Tree Swallow, Barn Swallow, Mute Swan, Canada Goose (two swam across the lake with one in front competely prone on the water) Weir Dam - Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead, Hairy Woodpecker (on Osceola Is. going toward the dam) Musick's Campground - Greater Yellowlegs-4, Lesser Yellowlegs-2, Ring-billed Gulls-120+, Bonaparte's Gull-10, Osprey, Double-crested Cormorant-2
At the Weir Dam, a raptor flew down the river, probably an Osprey. At Musick's there was a smaller sandpiper with the Yellowlegs, probably a Solitary.
