Area Birders, Today around 10:00, just before the snow flakes started falling here in Buchanan County, I heard crows making a racket in our neighbor's pasture. When I looked I saw an eagle flying eastward followed by a few crows. My binos were just inside the door because I had just been looking at some other birds, so I made a grab for them. By this time the eagle was disappearing quickly in the distance. It was silhouetted against the sky so I couldn't say whether it was a Golden or a Bald. I jumped into the Blazer and drove around the ridge road that ran parallel to the eagle's flight, hoping that I might get another look. Unfortunately I didn't Eagles are not commonly seen here in the county. In fact the only other confirmed sighting we have is one seen in the fall of 2001 by Ed Talbott III. Enjoy the birds, Roger Mayhorn Grundy, VA mayhorn@xxxxxxxxxxxx ************************************************* BRISTOL BIRDS NET LIST This is a regional birding list sponsored by the Bristol Bird Club to facilitate communications between birders and bird clubs of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
