Greene County: Joachim Bible Refuge unit of Lick Creek Bottoms Wildlife
Management Area (JBR), Wal-Mart Distribution Center (WMDC), etc.

Greeneville's fall count was held on Saturday, October 1, and results have yet
to be compiled. Here are highlights from my day in the field, along with
comments pertaining to Greene County records for these species--

American Wigeon (9, JBR) (atypically early; generally arrives mid- to late
October or early November)
American Black Duck (1, JBR) (extremely early; generally arrives very late
October or in November)
Northern Bobwhite (JBR)
Red-shouldered Hawk (juvenile, JBR)
Barn Owl (2, JBR)
Red-headed Woodpecker (5, at 2 sites)

Common Raven (vicinity of WMDC) (another low-elevation sighting; in recent
years, ravens have appeared numerous times in the "great valley" of the county;
they also continue to appear along the mountains on both the southern and
northern borders; it's safe to state that there's a reasonable chance of
finding them at any altitude)

Barn Swallow (4)
House Wren (JBR)
Marsh Wren (WMDC)
Tennessee Warbler (18)
Palm Warbler (22)
Common Yellowthroat (22)
Savannah Sparrow (4, at 2 sites)
White-crowned Sparrow (1, JBR; about a week or so earlier than expected)
Dickcissel (adult female, JBR; astonishingly late; generally difficult to find
after July 31)
