. . From: Daryl Owens . To: Buchanan County Bird Club . Date: Mon, 30 Mar 2015 Thus past Saturday, Angie and the girls wanted to shop and I, as appealing as I find shopping, opted to drop them off at Bristol Mall for a few hours and hit as many hotspots in that area as I could. I think I may have started a new activity I'm calling "speed birding". I hit Musick's Campground, 421 Boat Ramp, S. Holston Dam, Weir Dam and Paddle Creek Ponds in just over two hours. As you can see, I didn't have much time to spend at either location so I probably missed some birds. I did find some good ones though, including Common Loons and Bonaparte's Gulls at Musick's, two adult Bald Eagles at 421 Boat Ramp and three drake Blue-winged Teal at Paddle Creek Ponds. However, the bird of the day was the Lesser Yellowlegs pictured below. He too was hanging out at Paddle Creek ponds and gave very nice looks. Daryl Owens Oakwood VA
