Blountville
Sullivan Co. TN
3 March 2013

Observed a Common Raven flying across the highway
about 5:30 p.m. today and it headed directly to a sizeable
nest in a hardwood tree on the face of a nearby ridge. It
perched about 10 feet from the nest and faced it. After
about two minutes, it flew towards the nest but did not
alight. It made a half circle glide around the nest and
then flew back across the road and out of sight. Using
binoculars, it appeared the nest is new and no bird of any
kind could be seen on the nest. Plan to follow this up
carefully to see what we have there.
