Winged Deer Park in Johnson City, Washington Co., TN
At the Herndon Chapter summer picnic at the lakeside
(now just riverside) pavilion:
Common Merganser - 10, in female / immature plumage.
These likely represent a family group from local breeding.
I'm not sure who first spotted these birds floating down the river,
but most of the 39 picnic attendees got to see them (a few left earlier).
