We've changed up the walks at Jacob's Nature Park. Here is the current
schedule for this week and next week.
Tues 5/3: Evening Bird Walk 4-7pm Rob Biller
Wed 5/4: Morning Bird Walk 8-10am David Kirschke
Thurs: 5/5: Evening Bird Walk 4-7pm Rob Biller
Mon 5/9: Morning Bird Walk 8-10am Rick Knight
Tues 5/10: Evening Bird Walk 4-7pm Rob Biller
Wed 5/11: Morning Bird Walk 8-10 David Kirschke
Thurs 5/12: Evening Bird Walk 4-7pm Rob Biller
All walks will meet at the covered shelter at the back parking lot (Parking
Lot 2 on Google Maps). The back parking area is at the end of Ocala Drive
(Off Miami Dr - there are signs to help).
It's always good to have older shoes or, preferably boots on as these are
dirt trails and wet areas we will be walking on and around. Binoculars are
also needed.
We will be looking for migrants that use Jacob's Nature Park for rest and
food nourishment. Some of these nest in our area and some will be moving
farther north... Warblers, Vireos, Tanagers, and Thrushes, Buntings,
Orioles, etc. We will be also pointing out our common birds as we find them
so it doesn't matter the level of birder you are - we will be looking for
whatever we can find. Unless noted the walks will still be a go if it's not
a total rain out. Showers or brief periods of rain can really be a benefit
to get birds moving around shortly after the rain stops. The
pavilion provides a place to stay dry if it decides to start raining.
