Area Birders, With snow falling here in Buchanan County today the birds crowded to the feeders. This afternoon 27 Cardinals came in. There were 19 bright red males decorating the trees and 8 females coming in tentatively. Several times during the day the flock of 50 Mourning Doves descended on the feeders, which in a small way, reminded me of what it must have been like before the demise of the Passenger Pigeons, when huge flocks of those birds broke down tree branches. The resident male Sharp-shinned swooped in at least 3 times today without success. A couple of times he ended up on the platform feeder alone, where there had been a mass of feathered bodies only seconds before. Enjoy the birds, Roger Mayhorn Grundy, VA Buchanan County ************************************************* BRISTOL BIRDS NET LIST Bristol Birds Net Photo Gallery located at: http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jwcoffeyy/album?.dir=/efd5 This is a regional birding list sponsored by the Bristol Bird Club to facilitate communications between birders and bird clubs of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. -------------------------------------------------- You are subscribed to Bristol-Birds.
