Bristol Birders, I had a nice treat this morning at the public library in Grundy, VA. We were setting up for the American Legion to conduct a flag ceremony when I heard some high pitched notes coming from the locust trees in front of the library. I saw a warbler and retrieved by binoculars from the truck. It turned out to be a Cape May Warbler in breeding plumage. The bird then flew down to the crab apple tree next to me and hopped out on a limb - I tired to focus the binoculars but it was too close - about 10 feet away. I just stood there and enjoyed the view for a full 30 seconds before it flew off. International Migratory Bird Day is May 10th.
