The Bristol Bird Club's Burke's Garden Golden Eagle Field Trip for Saturday, Feb. 15, has been CANCELLED due to developing weather and a most unfavorable Saturday forecast. BBC Vice-President Larry McDaniel called early this afternoon to discussed the plans. Larry felt the trip should be called off and I agree. The fieldtrip will again be an agenda item at the BBC's regular monthly meeting Tuesday (Feb. 18). We will reschedule according to the wishes of the membership. The National Weather Service is calling for up to 4 inches of rain with river and streams flooding during the next 48 hours. Larry said reports have heavy snowfall at this hour in the region we would be traveling into. There was already snowcover remaining in the garden. Some of the heaviest and most constant rains are predicted for Saturday. This is no weather to search for Golden Eagles, Rough-legged Hawks and other desirable species in Burke's Garden at 3,000 feet elevation. We'll go birding next time.... Wallace Coffey Bristol, TN will get underway from the ETSU-Bristol Campus at 8 a.m. this Saturday, Feb. 15. ************************************************* BRISTOL BIRDS NET LIST This is a regional birding list sponsored by the Bristol Bird Club to facilitate communications between birders and bird clubs of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
