Hungry Mother Park Birding Festival
The author of a very-popular bird
column which appears weekly in
the Bristol Herald Courier will be
the featured speaker for the much-
anticipated festival which will be
held the weekend of Friday
May 01-03, 2015.
Stevens is scheduled to be the main presenter and will give
his talk Friday, May 1, at the beautiful state park located on
Hungry Mother Lake at Marion, VA.
For those of you who have not been to the park, you should
make special plans to eat at the park's famous dining room.
Tanya Hall, Chief Ranger of Visitor Experience at the park is
organizing the event and has good folks assisting.
His columns first appeared in the Bristol newspaper June 1
of last year and he has circulation over a large area of Southwest
Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
The state park is spreading the interest variables widely and
hoping for representation from organizations such as Cabela's,
Flying Wild Program for Educators, photography, a kayaking
birding tour, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Trout Unlimited,
Zeiss, bird clubs, etc.
They plan on having lots of activities and speakers for birders
and their families. They want to showcase local organizations
and businesses that deal with birding or the environment in
general.
