The Bristol Christmas Bird Count, the region's oldest count first conducted in 1931, is set for Sunday, Dec. 26 -- the count's traditional date is the first Sunday after Christmas. The count averages 82 species per year with the high count being a region record high of 91 set in 2004. Due to inclement weather and snowy roads, the planning meeting for the Bristol count and others was cancelled earlier. If you have a usual count party you participate with, please plan to meet up with your area leader. You might want to make contact either by phone or email. If you would like to participate in the count but do not have a regular party then pick from one of the following and contact the leader.
