AAAAAA bonfire jacki left.jpg Bonfire Shows Warmth for Mae Musick and Her Hospitality "Thank you all for your kindness and thank you for coming tonight," Bristol Bird Club life member Mae Musick said late Sunday. "I really enjoy having you come birding to the campground and enjoy your friendship very much." Mae had become increasingly nervous about the rising lake level and the monster pile of brush which she had stacked there since last fall. She was fearful of burning it herself and wanted our help. Nearly 30 birders turned out for the afternoon and many worked very hard all evening to fuel, light and control the burn. The expressions of thanks and appreciation for those members of the Bristol Bird Club who pitched in was passed along by many. Old and young birders came from across the region to rally with us and enjoy a great evening of fellowship and food. Many brought Their own food and drinks. Dozens of hotdogs were provided. Birders enjoyed cooking their own and smoldering marshmallows. They lounged in folding chairs well into darkness as the fire roared on and several stayed to keep the blaze alive and controlled. AAAAAA bonfire larry rick.jpg The visiting, fellowship and good birding was abundant. There was also much positive conversations about the good things that must continue and will. AAAAAA A;;u bpus.jpgSome birders, who have drifted away, came back and reunited with birding friends. There was much happiness and many hugs and smiles. It was nice to have a flyover of three Sandhill Cranes just before dark. The last cars left the campground just before 9 p.m. Those who worked hard to organize and carryout the evening at the Crown Jewel of region birding, were gratified to have such an abundance of positive support and appreciation for Mae Musick and her wonderful birding access.
