Allen Boynton had a Blackburnian Warbler today (26 July 2014) on Homestead Road (SR-741) Fairwood Valley, E of Konnarock in Grayson Co., VA on the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area of the Jefferson National Forest. This is along the Smyth Co., VA line just off Va. Rt. 16. It is in the vicinity of where Ron Harrington and I had what sound like a Black-capped Chickadee singing in the headwaters of Comer's Creek ten years ago on 25 May 2004. The habitat is well away from the higher elevations of Canadian-type forest habitat of surrounding high country mountains. The chickadee was discovered at an elevation of about 3,500 ft. east of Comer's Creek Church and cemetery. Let's go birding... Wallace Coffey Bristol, TN
