Birders: ( Birdwatching at MossyCreek Wildlife Viewing Area and Cherokee Dam in Jefferson City and Grainger County ) Today on Nov. 5, 2006 Shane and Dennis Adams have gone birdwatching from 11:00 a.m until 3:00 p.m at Mossy Creek Wildlife Viewing Area and Cherokee Dam in Jefferson City and Grainger County we saw lots of birds at both locations they are: 2 Red Tailed Hawks, Sharp Shinned Hawk, and Cooper's Hawk, Mallards Drakes and Hens, Black and Turkey Vultures ( mixed ), Red Winged Blackbirds, ( in the cattails in front of Viewing Blind 1 and also in trees near the viewing blind ) Belted Kingfisher ( also in West of Morristown sitting on a fence post in a pond in between United Way and Ingles heading west towards Jefferson City ), a possible Savannah or Swamp Sparrow,also a possible Warbler or a Vireo, American Coot ( also 20+ or more at Cherokee Dam in front of the spillway and near rocks next to the picnic area heading towards parking area ), Cedar WaxWings ( same location and also at TWRA Access boat ramp in Grainger County ), all the birds was seen at Mossy Creek Wildlife Viewing Area at Viewing Blinds 1 & 2 / Great Blue Heron at the Cherokee Dam in Jefferson City and between Grainger County, ( a quick note Dennis Adams first sighting of the Cedar Waxwings this year ) enjoy the posting everybody.
