If you want to see the bats roosting go to the gazebo's and look up into the crest of the ceiling. We were looking back toward the weir area when Gilbert spotted the bat. The sighting took place during their Tuesday (Jan. 24) afternoon birding trip. None of us are bat experts. We just know it was small (sparrow-sized) ,brownish and foraging and swooping over the water. We did think it a little unusual to see a bat feeding in the daylight and in January. Some good birds at the area around the Weir included Redheads, Lesser Scaup, Ring-necked Duck, American Wigeon and Bufflehead.
