Dr. Andy Jones,  a former naturalist at Steele Creek Park
Nature Center and active with the Bristol Bird Club for
the past fourteen years, is in Philadelphia, PA tonight
(Tuesday) as the American Ornithologists' Union
annual meeting gets underway.

He is serving AOU as the 
society's recording secretary
and holds a staff appointment 
with the society, serving in this 
role for a second year. The 
business sessions are underway.

On Aug 15, Andy will serve as 
the Session Organizer for 12 oral 
presentations of scientific papers 
under the session heading of 
"Phylogenetics" which is one of
24 sessions during the week-long meeting.

The 127th Stated Meeting of the AOU is happening at 
the University of Pennsylvania and is co-hosted by 
Villanova University and UPenn.

The AOU is the most diverse ornithological 
society, with over 3500 members.  Philadelphia is the
"Birthplace of American Ornithology."  Founded in 1883,
the AOU is the oldest and largest scientific organization 
devoted to the study of birds in the Americas

Andy is the William A. and Nancy R. Klamm Endowed 
Chair of Ornithology and Curator and Head of Ornithology
at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

He is a graduate of Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett High 
School.
