Saturday's Bristol Bird Club Watauga Lake Outing had a neat turnout with nice hospitality and fellowship at the lakeside home of Bob, Ellen and Charlie Parker. Birders enjoyed a relaxed afternoon at the beautiful home, including screened porch, long open deck, spacious and air conditioned seating areas throughout the house. Linda Newman especially noted the amazing woven baskets which had been made by Ellen Parker's mother. There were several reflecting wonderful art and carfts skills. Birders also enjoyed birding from the Parker's boat and as much water time as desired. A welcomed late-afternoon rain could not be better timed. The cool air coming through the trees had every seat on the screened porch occupied. Everyone enjoyed the rain and good chat. Bob Parker was the chef, cooking from the deck, and the covered-dish spread was the usual delicious food of the BBC gang. Ellen Parker left nothing unturned for the day. Everything was perfect. Larry McDaniel gave the Parker's a framed bird photo for their hospitality. Many birders got to better know their fellow club members as a lazy day moved on. The outing concluded at 8:45 p.m. but Chris O'Bryan stayed to spend the night so he and Charlie Parker could water ski and jet ski on Sunday morning.
