Ann,

I hope you don't take offense, but I had to chuckle as
I read your post, because of the way you spelled urge
and aside, in the context of spelling. Your spelling
is perfectly logical from the sounds.

I'm a visual person, too, I mean mentally. In studying
a foreign language, I have to see the word, not just
hear it. I can't comprehend well when I just hear--in
reading, too. My husband comprehends what's on the
page or in the paper better when he hears it; my mind
doesn't absorb well what's being read to me; I have to
read it myself. Fortunately, this wasn't such a great
problem that I had trouble in school, but I know from
working as a volunteer in school with children with
learning disabilities that it can be--either not
"getting: what they hear and having to see it, or vice
versa.

G.Cindy
