You could use the find and replace command in word that's control h.  In the 
find box write the characters you want to delete, and in the replace box hit 
a space bar.  Then tab over to the "replace all" button and hit enter.  Word 
should tell you how many replacements were made.  Then save the file to keep 
the changes.
