Sorry, about that. I thought Duane had sent his message directly to me
since it should have been a response to a message I sent directly to him.

I'm using OpenBook 7 for scanning and Microsoft Word for editing.

There are three ways that I know of to detect Paragraph Markers.

The first way only requires JAWS. Set up JAWS to skim by paragraph during
Say All and enable the shift keys for Fast Forward and Rewind with the Say
All options in the Configuration Manager. Now start the Say All function
with the Insert-DownArrow. You'll jump to a new paragraph every time you
hit a shift key. The left shift is Rewind and the right is Fast Forward.
This is the method I use for skimming a book. If the Paragraph Markers are
at the end of every line or not there then this feature will not work
correctly since it can't identify the paragraphs properly.

The other two ways are specific to Word.

You can toggle being able to read invisible characters using Ctrl-* or
Ctrl-Shift-8. When the feature is on, JAWS will say Paragraph Marker when
the cursor is on a Paragraph Marker. From what I remember, Word Perfect had
a similar feature when I used it back in the 1980s'.

The method I prefer is to move the cursor to the next paragraph, to the top
of the current paragraph, or to the previous paragraph using shortcut keys
in Word. Ctrl-DownArrow will move you to the next paragraph and
Ctrl-UpArrow will move you to the beginning of the current paragraph or to
the previous paragraph if the cursor is already at the beginning of a
paragraph. This is the method I used for fixing the problem in Crown of
Slaves since it doesn't require starting and stopping the Say All feature in
JAWS or toggling the invisible character feature in Word. I would just move
to the beginning of a paragraph in my WebScriptions copy using
Ctrl-DownArrow or Ctrl-UpArrow, then use the Up and Down Arrow keys to find
the same line in the Bookshare copy.

If you resubmit, do not put the word "And" in the list of authors.
Bookshare will interpret it as the first word of someone's name. Also,
Bookshare has a quirk where it reverses the names when it processes them, so
if you want to see Weber's name first on the site, you'll need to put it
last in the list.

I can send the ARC file, but it is a poor file.
It would probably be easiest to rescan using Open Book 6
and begin again.
Also, I have learned some things in Auburn which should make
editing easier.
What program are you editing in? and how are you decting
paragraph markers?

Sincerely Yours,
Duane Iverson
