The book is called Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell. I'm reading it as a commercial audio book, but it's also available from Bookshare. It's an adventure in discovering history focused on the U.S. presidents who were assassinated while in office. I'm not especially interested in U.S. history most of the time--I've been taught it so repetitively and so conventionally that all the interest value has been squeezed out. But this book is reminding me that U.S. history is no less interesting than the history of anywhere else, meaning that it can be quite fascinating. The book is an out-and-out celebration of general quirkiness with offbeat humor heavy on the irony and more tangents than your average trigonometry class. And no, no one is paying me to write this review. <grin> Happy reading, Kellie
