I always think it's funny when people say Harry Potter teaches "witchcraft". I mean, it would be cool if you could point a stick at someone, speak a little Latin and poof, but I'm doubting that's how it works. In fact, I think if I were a wiccan, I might be offended by the tryvialization of witchcraft this entails *grin*. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Elfqueen" <elfqueen@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

Who won that one? I used to be among those who thought Harry Potter was dangerous and should not be read, especially by children. Then I read them. And really laughed at myself, then got down to enjoying the series very much. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Francesca Marinaro" <poetprodigy7@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Yes, that was part of the project that I had my students do, and I had them debate about whether or not Harry Potter should be banned in elementary and
middle school libraries. (I had a hard time moderating that one in an
unbiased way).

The Harry Potter books have been banned in many places.
