Now if we can get engineering to pay validators more than fifty cents perhaps we can recruit more validators.

Many of us are validating our entire quota of five books. We simply need more folks to do a task which is often confusing, time consuming and produces fewer monetary rewards than submitting scans.

I have been validating since November 2002. I racked up enough credits to pay for last year's membership entirely and to pay for almost all of the year before. It is difficult to do with the current credit system.

Validators are the folks who ensure that the books which get into the collection are in the kind of shape bookshare patrons want. We can do this better with great submits. Thanks to submitters who care about the quality of what you submit.

Rejected one fair book and worked on another to make it acceptable yesterday. It will join the new books soon.

Hi Monica,

Yes, it is exciting! I just got the email saying my payment for next year was received. I had validated books, but nothing compared to the output of some volunteers.

Yes, it is great to have so many books available just by downloading them. I sometimes have trouble believing all this good fortune with which we who are participants in bookshare.org have as a result of so much hard work by so many dedicated volunteers and subscribers!!!

Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Way To Go Booksharians!

This is such an exciting week! We have several new volunteers who are validating books, and there are some really cool books in the pipeline that will be showing up on Bookshare soon. This is teamwork at its best, and I want each of you who scans, validates, or buys books to know that I appreciate you. Those of you who pay for your membership each year are important too. You help to keep the project going and the lights turned on at the Bookshare office. Do you all realize that we are on a pace to hit 50,000 books early next year? When you were growing up waiting for your next tape to come in the mail or carrying a bulky Braille book around to read, did you ever think you'd be able to access 50,000 books without needing to wait on the mail? That is where we're headed if we keep doing what we're doing now. I wonder whose book will be our 50,000. Will it be yours?
