That sounds really good, will have to grab that one when it gets validated. Shelley L. Rhodes and Judson, guiding golden juddysbuddy@xxxxxxxxxxxx Guide Dogs For the Blind Inc. It is not enough to stare up the steps - we must step up the stairs. -- Vance Havner ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cindy" <popularplace@xxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>; <bookshare-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, June 13, 2005 10:03 PM Subject: [bookshare-discuss] New submission: Address Unknown While waiting for books to come in to scan (back in the days when I was scanning instead of validating) and not wanting to start a validation project during the wait, I scanned some smaller books I found at the used-book store that I thought bookshare people would like to have. I decided to finish pre-validating this one before starting on my next Caldecott book. Address Unknown is a short book that will, as the publisher says, possibly take no more than half an hour to read -- but it is chilling in its way (it's not a murder or traditional horror story) and moving. Written originally in 1938 and published as a short story in Story Magazine, it affected the public so much that it was decided it should be published as a book. Also it was made into a movie, which I would love to see. It was republished in 1995 (but my copy is from 1939) as a Story Press Endangered Classic. The story is told in correspondence between two German friends and business associates who lived and worked in the United States. One returns to Germany for business purposes while the other, who is Jewish, remains to conduct the U.S. side of the business. Cindy __________________________________ Discover Yahoo!
