Subject: [bookshare-discuss] New Release From Bookshare

Hello,

As many of you know, the Bookshare team has been hard at work on our latest
release.
Here are the major changes and features which have been implemented:

Validation credits have been increased from $.50 to $2.50 per book. These
credits
are applied to a volunteers account when the book is added into the
collection.

When a subscriber has earned enough credit to pay for their next
subscription, this
amount plus any additional earned credits are displayed properly on the "my
account"
page.

Validators will now receive an email message when a book they validated has
been
accepted or rejected.

To make searching easier, we added the following links: Browse Authors,
Browse Categories,
and Browse New Books. These appear on every page as part of the right
navigation bar.

When browsing new books, users can now choose the time frame to search. The
choices
are: display books added today, in the last two days, in the last week, in
the last
two weeks, and in the last month.

Author search has been fixed so that if the author's name includes a middle
initial,
they will be found without having to type the middle initial into the search
box.

Embossed braille books can now be ordered without the user having to be
logged in.

When a group account is created, all downloaders now receive the welcome
email message,
not just the primary account holder.

Magazines from NFB Newsline remain on the site for as long as they are
supposed to,
by magazine.

When a volunteer rejects a book on the Step 2 upload page, they can now
specify the
reason as "Insufficient Page Breaks."

Bookshare no longer accepts Doc as a submission format. The requirement is
that all
books must be converted from .doc to .rtf before they are submitted to
Bookshare.org.
