Hi. Personally, I agree with you. It is unfortunate to me to see a
duplicate of an NLS book when I know that's potentially one less book
otherwise available. I'm not talking about NLS talking books but
Web-Braille. For many reasons, talking books aren't the best
format. I've seeen many Left Behind kids books and Cat Who books on
both Web-Braille and bookshare. I generally go with the Web-Braille
versions because they are error-free. The problem is that they are
in multiple volumes which means multiple files and bookshare doesn't
have that problem. Also NLS doesn't offer DAISY at all although they
will in 2008. NLS Web-Braille generally only releases about 60 books
every two months, I've seen bookshare release that many in a
week. But yes, I generally agree with you that print books not
available should get priority.

I know what you mean, but it takes time to scan books, and my feeling is that that time might be better spent if there aren't very many people who can't get books from NLS. After all, there are a heck of a lot of books which aren't available anywhere else but print, and which will never be recorded. I think it would be better to concentrate on those if the number of people who can get Bookshare but not NLS is small. That's why I asked the question in the first place.
