Oh, no, Julie, You can get scanners to read with notetakers. Back in '93 I took out a loan and bought a reading edge. It scans, converts to ascii text, and reads the result in voice. I was using Braille and Speak at the time to go online, participate in live chats, host my topic on Delphi, etc. I called Blazie Engineering, the people that produced Braille and Speak and got a cable to use with reading edge. I could then download what I scanned onto a disk in the disk drive that one could purchase for Braille and speak. Then I could load the contents of the disk in to Braille and Speak, correct the scanning errors, send the corrected text to a disk, and add my new book to my library in the file box. I think Pulsedata has made a scanner that will work with braille note and possibly voice note. I'm going to talk to my pulsedata rep. about it. There are things out there. One has to be careful to get the right kind of scanner, one that produces an ascii text file and not that other kin d! . I'll let you know what I find out when I get the chance to talk to the representative. Hope this helps someone.
