Might also try John Jakes North South series, and the Kent Family
Chronicles.
I just recently listened to his On Secret Service which was also a good
historical fiction book.

If you like historical fiction I can recommend a couple. Haven't
checked to see if they're on bookshare, but they are in LOC. Try Wilber
Smith's egyptian series: River God, Warlock and The Seventh Scroll.
