Hi Roger,

I meant to send this yesterday, but in any event, this is great news. Thanks for sending it over. I intend to get on it right away. I am very curious to see what they have.

Evan

Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Australian Talking Books

For those of you who are not subscribed to the BARDTalk email list I thought you might be interested in this. The director of the talking book program in Western Australia is on the list and he has offered to allow us Americans to enroll and to be able to download recorded books from their web site. In order to enroll you do need to provide proof of disability and it so happens that they will accept the word of your NLS affiliated library as proof. If you are registered with an NLS network library and would like to try out downloaded Australian talking books then ask your library to email the following information:
Your full name and physical address.
Your email address.
The nature of your disability, i.g., blindness, dislexia, etcetera.

Full contact infor mation for the library for verification purposes.
There is a slight difference between qualifications for using NLS books and using Bookshare. I think the qualifications for the Australian books is more identical to Bookshare, so if you are registered with Bookshare and not with the NLS you might want to email them in Australia and ask if they will accept the word of Bookshare as proof of disability. The email address that your information and any questions you may have should be sent to is dtb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
